of health and nutrition programs. We pool our collective nutrition expertise and experience to co-create feasible,
creative solutions grounded in field realities.
Dr. Justine Kavle, based in Washington, D.C., is a Public Health Nutritionist and the CEO of Kavle Consulting, LLC, a woman and minority-owned small business social impact firm. With more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Kavle has worked to improve nutrition practices and health service delivery across the globe, with long-standing expertise in anemia, nutrition during pregnancy and lactation, infant and young child nutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and strengthening integration of nutrition interventions into the health system. Throughout her career, she has been consistently known for carrying out innovative implementation research and translating evidence to improve health and nutrition programs. Dr. Kavle served as the Nutrition Team Lead, for USAID’s Maternal and Child Survival Program from 2016 to 2019. Dr. Kavle holds a PhD, in Human Nutrition and an Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of International Health.
Ms. Brenda Ahoya, is a Senior Nutrition Advisor based in Kenya, with 15 years of experience in maternal, infant and young child nutrition program implementation, as well as carrying out formative assessments and research to influence nutrition – health program and policy implementation. Notably, she led teams in the successful design and roll out of baby friendly initiatives in western Kenya (Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, Baby Friendly Community Initiative). Ms. Ahoya’s illustrative career includes nine years with the Kenya Vihiga County Ministry of Health and serving as a Nutrition Advisor with USAID’s Maternal and Child Survival Program/PATH and USAID’s Afya Halisi /Jhpiego in Western Kenya. She holds a Master of Science in Community Nutrition and Development from Maseno University, Kenya.
Ms. Constance Gathi, is a Nutrition Implementation Officer, based in Kenya, with eight years of experience in nutrition planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and health interventions. Ms. Gathi has worked with several international non-governmental organizations, such as World Vision, Save the Children and PATH, to support the implementation of nutrition interventions. She has experience in qualitative and quantitative nutrition assessments in arid and semi – arid lands in Kenya (Turkana, Baringo, and Samburu counties) to identify gaps in nutrition programs and inform nutrition priorities. Ms. Gathi holds a Bachelor of Science in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from Kenyatta University
Ms. Lacey Ramirez is a Research Analyst, in the U.S., with seven years of experience in all aspects of qualitative research, including training, data collection instrument development, and analysis. Her work at Kavle Consulting, LLC, has been instrumental in the generation of evidence to assess gaps and opportunities to strengthen infant and young child nutrition practices and to inform on strengthening the delivery of nutrition and health interventions in development and humanitarian settings. She holds a Master of Science degree in Global Health and Population from the Harvard, T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Bachelor of Arts in French from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
